Project summary

Projects satisfy my curiosity for continuous learning, keep me engaged, and allows me to explore areas of interest.

Overview

I gravitate to problems where the current effort requires too much effort. For example, comparing auto lease prices across thousands of vehicles.

Every project started as a curiosity. I tried to accomplish something but the effort resulted in too much friction.

Therefore, I set out to craft a better answer - a solution to my problem.

Amazon FBA

Amazon FBA writeup is here

Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) is a service that allows businesses to outsource order fulfillment to Amazon.

I wrote software to analyze products, pick winners, procure products, and sell them on Amazon.

Auto Leasing

Auto leasing writeup is here

I taught an auto leasing class to more than 400 people, in person.

Comparing auto leases is almost impossible. For example, show me the monthly lease price for SUVs with all-wheel drive (AWD) between $40,000 and $50,000.

I'm creating a website for consumers to compare a broad section of lease prices.

Blockchain Analysis

Blockchain analysis writeup is here

My goal was to understand how the Chia blockchain works and determine if optimizations could improve the process.

My analysis showed there was an opportunity to improve the Proof of Space and Time algorithm. Specifically, load balance the amount of disk activity across two SSDs.

Markdown Validator

Markdown validator writeup is here

Wrote software that validates IBM-specific markdown language. The software validates rules and links across hundreds of IBM Cloud documentation projects.

The Markdown Validator found 1,000's of markdown errors that other validation programs did not find. Fixing these issues cleaned up the public IBM Cloud documentation.

Real Estate Analysis

Real estate analysis writeup is here

I was looking to invest in real estate but found the analysis process too time-consuming and the results inconclusive.

I built the equivalent of an MLS (Multi-Listing Service) for real estate investors.

Instead of pretty pictures and cute descriptions, you have the ability to filter, sort, and rank properties based on an investment thesis.

Resumes

Resume writeup is here

In the past 9+ years I've read 5,000+ resumes and hired hundreds of people.

Resumes are either too short, which means...
I have to ask a lot of questions to have a conversation.

Or the resume is hundreds of bullet points, which means...
I have to ask a lot of questions to have a conversation.

Resumes should be online and allow the reader to get the appropriate amount of information based on their need - think recruiter, hiring manager, and interview team.
